It is difficult
for a modern person to appreciate the role of glass windows in a house. It is
customary to recall glazing only when it becomes necessary to buy a new window
glass. But it is precisely that material due to which people have the comfort,
light, and warmth with which modern apartments and houses delight us so much.

A few centuries
ago, the most flawless beauty would have been careful not to sit for a long
time at the window. And the point here is not at all in draughts: simply, the
muddy and hilly glass greatly distorted reality then. And some unlucky
passer-by could see a swamp kikimora behind a windowpane instead of a beautiful
woman.

Current window
panes allow light to pass unobstructed, providing natural daylight. At the same
time, they protect against wind, cold and precipitation (from the rain in
summer and snow in winter). And additionally, the windows do not let street
dust and exhaust fumes into the house. Finally, modern double-glazed windows
have anti-vandal functions, because the compound glass with a film is very difficult
to break. Of course, the price of such effective window panes is much higher,
but it is justified.
Today,
glass with a thickness of 6-8 mm is mainly used for windows. There are thicker
varieties, all of them are ground and polished in the production process. The
resulting material is called mirror glass. If you want to reduce the
transparency of products, they are subjected to rough grinding or sandblasting.
